GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette
Convertible for purchase. The Corvette launched its 2nd generation
with the birth of the Stingray with a complete redesign barely
resembling its predecessors. The Stingray was lighter, had
independent suspension, and was aerodynamically tested. The only
American cars that could produce similar speed were large, heavy
Super Stock optioned Mopars and Super Duty Pontiacs. For the first
time, the United States had mass produced a true all-around sports
car.
Especially when compared to other vehicles at the time, the C2
Corvette is not a very big car. That didn't shy GM away from
throwing a big block V8 option in to the Corvette catalog. In 1966,
GM went full throttle offering for the first time a 427ci V8 in two
different options. With smooth styling that says summer cruiser, GM
also gave the Corvette an aggressive mean streak to show carving up
roads as good an anything in the muscle car era.
This '66 Corvette Convertible was last purchased in 1994 in Macomb,
Georgia. It's got incredible curb appeal with the Silver/Silver
paint combination. It's powered by a correct 427ci V8 390 HP engine
paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The numbers match with
it being a counter-exchange block. A lot of money was invested in
the last five years to make this one of the best C2 examples out
there cosmetically & mechanically. It features side exhaust, knock
off wheels, new tinted windshield, new leather seating, new dash
pad, new carpet, new door panel, new quartz clock (working), new
teak steering wheel, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes,
Hurst shifter, original radio, and more! Some spare parts are also
available with the sale: original steering wheel, new soft top,
rebuilt headlight motor, and a starter. As part of the restoration
the instrument panel was gone through by Corvette Clocks by Roger.
