We are pleased to offer 1972 USA model Dino (Ferrari) 246 GT
Berlinetta s/n 03000 GT, a great looking, delightful driving and
very well documented Dino Coupe with known ownership back to the
first owner, Edward Mernone, then the president of the Porsche
Owners club. The complete engine and transaxle were just rebuilt by
Rod Drews F.A.I. in Costa Mesa, CA at a cost of $36,896.34. The
correct and matching numbers engine has just been treated to 12 new
valves, 12 new valve guides and 12 new valve seats; all new rod,
main and thrust bearings; new rings; 24 new head studs and nuts;
new cam chains and chain guides; all new frost plugs and a full
engine gasket set. The mechanical accessories were rebuilt
including new carb kits, new fuel lines and fuel crossover hoses; a
rebuilt water pump with new water pump seals, a new shaft and new
bearings. All coolant and heater hoses were replaced, the overflow
tank was repaired and the water pump-alternator belt was replaced.
The distributor was rebuilt with a new seal, a new distributor cam;
new distributor weights, plates and points and a new condenser.The
correct and matching numbers differential and transaxle were
rebuilt with new positraction plates; new ring gear support
bearings; a new input shaft bearing; new final drive seals and
bearings and a new shift boot shaft seal. The clutch assembly was
rebuilt, the bellhousing bearings were replaced and a new clutch
cable was installed. The brakes and suspension were also restored
with the front shocks rebuilt, new front spring seats and boots and
new lower ball joints. The steering rack was rebuilt and new tie
rod ends and bellows were fitted. All rear inner suspension
bushings were replaced and new rear sway bar bushings were
installed. All the rubber brake hoses were replaced and the brake
system was flushed. All glass and trim were removed and the body
was treated to a new windshield gasket and rear window gasket; new
door seals and door leading edge seals; new radiator foam and a new
battery. Needless to say all fluids and filters including brake
fluid, engine oil, gear oil and coolant were replaced and 246 GT
s/n 03000 GT was treated to a four-wheel alignment. Thanks to the
just-completed rebuild, 246 GT s/n 03000 GT is professionally
sorted and pride-of-ownership, turn-key driver! The chassis, motor,
transmission and all components are numbers matching and original
to the car. All invoices are on file in PDF format.While the glass,
trim, bumpers and lights were off the car the body was painted with
an excellent high-quality re-spray in the original red at a cost of
$4,001.20 because of miscellaneous door dents. The body and panel
fit are excellent. There is near-new mouse fur on the dash and the
seats, the door panels and carpets were obviously replaced sometime
in the past. The original inner sill panels and rear firewall panel
are all in excellent condition. 246 GT s/n 03000 GT looks as good
as it drives.246 GT s/n 03000 GT is a North American-delivery
E-Series Dino with leather seats and power windows. Built in
December of 1971, it has been fitted with attractive and nicely
integrated headlight covers, a common update at that time. 246 GT
s/n 03000 GT comes with the full set of original tools and tool
roll, the correct jack, jack bag, wheel chock and tire iron, an
original owners handbook, parts book and USA supplement owners
handbook, plus a Dino Parts catalogue for the USA Dino and a repro
leather carrying pouch. Also fitted with near new Michelin XWX
tires, the original three-point seat belts and comes with a correct
original Becker Mexico cassette radio (not installed). 246 GT s/n
03000 GT is very clean under the front hood with a new plastic
inner firewall cover, is very nicely detailed and everything works
as it should. Ferrari 246 GT s/n 03000 offers everything the Dino
enthusiast could want a done Dino that shows well and is thoroughly
sorted with excellent ownership records and service records. Price:
