Porsche hubs MotoeXotica is pleased to announce another cult
classic from the sixties the Porsche 550 Spyder replicar. The 550
is often replicated, and as always, the quality varies widely from
manufacturer to manufacturer...our replica is from Perry Ds, Inc.,
Lake Matthews, CA. The Perry Ds Spyder body fits on a stock VW pan
that affords the car's two occupants and their personal items
plenty more space than an original or another manufacturer's
reproduction 550. The Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the all time
great Porsche racing cars. Among Porsche's first dedicated race
cars (since the 356 was first and foremost a street car), the 550
Spyder removed all doubt about what the small new German sports car
company was all about. The 550 consistently gave cars of twice the
displacement a run for their money, including a win at the 1956
Targa Florio, which proved that the new company, which was just
five years old when the 550 first appeared, was serious about
motorsport. Finished in a "Petrol Blue" metallic, this roadster
shows extremely well with only very minor imperfections visible
upon close inspection. Steel subframes behind fiberglass body front
and rear. The headlights and tail lights are in excellent
condition. The windshield glass is pit and scratch free. The
weather-stripping is pliable, with little or no signs of drying,
tearing or shrinkage. The car comes equipped with a black tonneau
cover top in very good condition. The original 15-inch wheels
represent well with only slight signs of marring. All the trim is
present, complete and displays normal wear. The Wendler Reutelingen
badge (German coach builder), Mille Miglia and Nurburgring badge
add further to the vintage European feel, as does the headrest
fairing and leather straps for the rear clam shell. The side mirror
is a vintage, highly desirable Talbot type and is in very good
shape. Inside, the "Marine Grade" rich tan vinyl front bucket seats
with" Simpson" racing type belts have an excellent period
appearance with normal slight wear spots visible. The matching tan
carpet is used tastefully to protect the entire roomy interior
floor extending up the sides of the tub. The blue dashboard is a
continuation of the striking blue exterior of the car and look
fantastic. All the green lit VDO gauges are ergonomically placed,
have correct appearance and function as originally designed. The
period correct equipped wooden Nardi steering is in excellent
condition, however the horn is inoperable. This car, built less
than 600 miles ago, comes equipped with a 2.0L flat four cylinder
Volkswagen Type 1 engine with dual Weber carburetors, K&N air
cleaners, mated to a Volkswagen Type 1 four-speed manual gearbox,
four-speed Type 1 trans/swing axle rear end, rear VW torsion bars,
front select-a-drop front beam with coilover adjustable shocks,
custom aluminum fuel tank with Lemans fuel filler. The wheels are
15 inch chrome steel Porsche rims with matching Porsche cresthub
caps. This is a great opportunity to acquire an evocative car that
represents terrific bang for the buck. Its appearance is striking,
its performance is stirring, and its cosmetic patina and unusual
number of correct details adds a feel of vintage authenticity that
is difficult to find in these replicas. GET OUT AND DRIVE! Current
mileage on the odometer shows 588 miles. It is sold as is on a
clean & clear mileage exempt title, andis titled as a 1969
Volkswagen. VIN: 119777823 Note: Please see full terms and
