Retaining its steel body, this very rare 1918 Oakland roadster was restored and hand-built to its current glory from the ground up. It won the Jim Wangers Choice Award at the 12th Annual Nostalgic show and go, and best of all Mr. Wangers, the architect of Pontiac's legendary 1960s marketing programs, personally signed the coveted award. The Oakland Motor Car Company was founded in Pontiac, Michigan in 1907 by a small group of �local businessmen led by Edward P. Murphy, who saw the emerging automobile as a sensible addition to his Pontiac Buggy Company carriage-building business. Finished in a version of "Marina" blue metallic, this all 237steel body roadster shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. All the trim is present, complete and displays normal wear with a bright finish. The rear bumper fit is extremely tight and finish is excellent. The weather-stripping is pliable, with little or no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage. The custom 15 inch wheels represent well with only slight signs of road use. Inside, the rich(two-tone) blue front bucket seats show extremely well with little to no signs of wear visible. The inside of the door�and dashboard are a continuation of the striking blue exterior of the car and look fantastic. All So-Cal gauges are ergonomically placed, have correct appearance and function as originally designed. The tilt column equipped two spoke custom steering wheel is in excellent condition and functions as designed. Period hotrod touches include old school LeMans style fuel filler, skull shift knob, pivoting "Pontiac" tissue dispenser and even a "Pontiac" Indian head radiator cap! Sounds come from a upgraded JVC AM/FM CD player with a powerful custom amplifier and hidden speakers. This no expense spared full custom Oakland is nicely equipped with a Pontiac 400cid V-8 engine, four barrel Edelbrock� carburetor, 4-speed automatic transmission, Polished Summit Racing air filter, Annsen polished valve cover breathers, chrome alternator, stainless Borla resonators, custom McCabe racing exhaust headers, straight-axle front end mounting disc brakes, braided brake lines, a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with coil over rear suspension and aluminum radiator. Car rides on 15 inch American Racing polished 5 spoke alloys with 255/65s in the front and 315/60s slicks in the rear!
