For Sale: 1952 Buick Antique in Kentwood, Michigan

Vehicle Description

When the Super Eight came out with its new design in 1949, General Motors used the C-body just like they did with the Roadmaster but with a shorter wheelbase. The most distinguishing difference between the Roadmaster and Super was the chrome VentiPorts lined along each front fender which also informed you that it was the smaller V8 option aptly named the same as the bigger model, the Fireball. At first, the VentiPorts were functional and were advertised as an added bonus by giving your engine compartment more ventilation, however, later along this generation they became plugs more toward styling. The idea was thought of by chief of styling, Ned Nickles, who added his own idea and design to the 1948 Roadmaster he owned. He even attached them to the distributor with amber lighting so that as the pistons fired so would the VentiPort lights giving it a real simulation that was similar to the old fighter planes of that day. Buick chief Harlow Curtice was so enthralled with this idea he made it featured on the 1949 Buicks, but without the lighting effect.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this highly original and unique example of the 1952 Buick Eight Sedan for your consideration. This vehicle comes with all the personality you could hope for from the top to the bottom, sits as a good driving, good running barn-find with a few layers of primer black covering the exterior, almost all the chrome and trim is where it should be and the overall appearance is very art-deco. With the engine size believed to be the 248 cubic inch but clearly a straight eight cylinder engine, this Fireball power-plant is in good running order and shifts smoothly through its 2-speed automatic transmission giving this vehicle all the possibilities in the world. The starting procedure is very unique as it is installed through its gas pedal, a simple turn of the key to the on position, a step on the gas pedal and this cool ride fires up like a top! The interior is in a workable condition but some refurbishing may need to be completed for the best experience within the cabin. Overall, this is a great find at a great price point for someone who may want a restoration project or for someone who loves the rustic patina and personality as it is! Call or email us today for a closer look at this cool classic driver.
