For Sale: 1970 Buick Gran Sport in Stratford, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

The relatively unknown and very rare 1970 GS 455 Stage 1 drew a great amount of attention and controversy in the muscle car world when it was listed as faster than the Chrysler Hemi cars. This car would be one of the most audacious models in Buick’s long history. This car is no disappointment and is believed to be the rarest GS model produced! In 1970, 2,465 GS Stage 1 Coupes were built. Of this number, only 16 were built with the three speed manual transmission. It is estimated by Buick Registries that less than nine exist today. No detail was overlooked on this recent frame-off restoration which adheres to factory Stage 1 specifications. The car retains the original 455 engine and original limited slip twelve bolt differential. The car had only 26,874 documented original miles when the engine was rebuilt – and only 500 break in miles since. The exterior paint boasts the original Burnished Saddle Iridescent and Dark Saddle interior. Chrome, stainless, glass, fenders, doors, emblems, floors, weatherstripping are all flawless. The Stage 1 engine option consisted of a more aggressive camshaft, higher compression, unique cylinder heads with the larger 2.13” intake and 1.755” exhaust valves, a specially tuned 4 barrel Rochester Quad-Jet carburetor, more aggressive ignition timing, 5/8” oil pickup tube, and a higher numerical final drive ratio. This car is optioned with factory tach and gauges, factory sport steering wheel, bucket seats, console, power driver seat, tilt steering column, single sport mirror with remote, tinted glass and a fully functional factory AM/FM/8 Track. The transmission is an extremely limited production run of 16 Stage 1 - 3 Speed Manual Transmission which shifts nicely. The power steering and power disc brakes make for a very user-friendly easy handling car. This car can be verified through the GS Historical Society as being an authentic Stage 1 car. If you’re a Buick fan, this one will definitely light your fire! This car is currenly off-site, please call ahead if you would like to see this car in person.
