For Sale: 1963 Jaguar Mark II 3.8 in San Diego, California

Vehicle Description

Disk brake, White Beauty, fast220bhp, 3,781cc double overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder engine, five-speed manual transmission (T5), four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 187.75” Adhering to Jaguar founder William Lyons' maxim of "grace, pace and space," the Mk2 series set new standards of style, comfort, and, above all, performance. Presenting discerning buyers a luxurious, wood-trimmed alternative to a more conventional family car, and in a sportier package, it is rightfully known today as the world’s first sport sedan. For 1960, the 3.4 Saloon was officially renamed the Mk2 and was offered with an optional new 3.8 liter engine – the same powerplant as the 1960 XK150 and the largest displacement the Mk2 would ever carry. A tachometer, limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, and four-speed transmission with overdrive were all standard. In road trim, the 220-horsepower Mk2 3.8 was capable of 125 miles per hour top speeds and zero to 60 times of just 8.5 seconds. These cars were equally impressive at long-distance racing and in 1961 broke four world records in the 3–5 liter class, averaging 106.58 miles per hour over 10,000 miles. The Mk2 would go on to dominate saloon car championship racing, delighting crowds at such legendary tracks as Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Goodwood, and even the Tour de France, at which it proved victorious from 1960 to 1963. It was no wonder then that the Mk2 quickly became the preferred getaway car for London gangsters (matched in short order by the police in their stripped 3.8s) in the Swinging Sixties. The Mk2 3.8 offered here is unquestionably one of the best examples available anywhere in the world today. No expense was spared during its meticulous restoration by Symbolic Motors. Rebuilt engine and overdrive, new seats and nIce, cold Air Conditioning! Will make this car ride luxurios and confortable This Jaguar is stunning with its lustrous white finish and contrasting b;ackinterior. What seems like acres of polished walnut veneer is properly mirrored from the center, and complemented with Connolly-type leather and Wilton carpeting. An attractive Derrington wood-rimmed wheel has been fitted. Chrome wire wheels with period-style radials complete the picture which includes detailing of the little-seen areas under the bonnet and underneath the car. As originally specified, with the popular, race-proven 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine, this particular Mk2 is among the fastest of its kind and continues to offer sport saloon performance and luxury, and invites close inspection. As well as the aforementioned tool kit, the car is fully equipped with spare tire and wheel, jack and a reproduction owner’s handbook. Oh – and lest we forget – an extra gear knob, with original 4-speed pattern, is included for use at its next concours event! and furious! Call David at 1-619-515-2220 or [email protected]
