This high performance luxury coupe is an award winning product of an eight year build culminating in an invitation to the 2008 Grand National Roadster Show. The all-steel body features custom mods including a 3-inch roof chop and 6-inch channel, the decked hood was fitted with a recessed NACA style hood scoop that is hinged side-to-side. The reworked nose blends with the grill and both the front and rear fenders were widened and flared, both head and tail lights were frenched, with pop-up units out front. Outstanding work abounds, including the shortened and smoothed firewall, plus the custom-fabricated floors, trunk and wheel tubs. Trim was shaved and removed and body seams were filled.
The upgraded 1947 Ford frame was equipped with 2x4 boxed steel reinforcements and tubular support. The underpinnings include a 1978 Z-28 front suspension and coil-over shock absorbers, a Morrison coil-over 4 link rear suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes. In 2010 the mechanical were upgraded with the 351 Cleveland V-8 extensively rebuilt and equipped with Comp Cam roller cam and lifter assembly, Edelbrook high-rise intake, ProForm 750 racing carburetor and custom fabricated headers with electric cutouts. Other features include, oil cooler, new wiring, kill switch. Power is delivered to a beefed up Ford C6 transmission with Bandit shifter and roll lock front brakes, driving the narrowed 3.73:1 Ford 9-inch rear end with Detroit Locker.
In addition, the exterior was handsomely refinished and pin striped. New upholstery was also fitted, along with new carpeting and a console and dash. VDO classic gauges, remote keyless entry and power-operated doors, trunk lid, windows and power antenna. Massive Centerline Convo Pro wheels and 18.5-inch Mickey Thompson tires round out the package.
