1970 Porsche 914-6
• VIN 9140431474
• Engine No. 6404949
• Completed on May 1, 1970
One owner for 31 years, finished in its original color combination
of Tangerine (2310) with a Black leatherette interior. Optional
equipment from the factory includes USA Equipment, Leather Covered
Steering Wheel, Fog Lights, Tinted Glass All Around, and the 5 1/2"
x 14" Fuchs alloy wheels have been refinished and mounted to Sprint
Classic Vredestein 185HR 14 tires.
The Tangerine paintwork is mostly original and in remarkable
condition with perfect gaps and panel fit. The exterior trim,
glass, badging, bumpers, and brightwork all indicate excellent care
and have been well preserved throughout the years. The interior is
original and impressive, featuring original leatherette upholstery
as it left the Porsche factory.
For the past 3 years, the current owner drove this 914-6. In 2023,
he took it on a road rally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Lake
Tahoe, California, and back, traveling 2700 miles. For the trip, a
Bluetooth hands-free stereo system was installed. The 914-6 was an
amazing driving experience, and the owner often said, "Where have
you been all my life."
Mechanically, this 914-6 runs perfectly with a matching 2.0-liter
flat-six (Type 901/38), a smooth-shifting manual 5-speed 901 dogleg
transmission, and a rebuilt 4-wheel disc braking system. It
performs flawlessly with plenty of power, producing 110 HP at 5800
RPM and 118 lb-ft of torque at 4200 RPM. European Collectibles have
recently rebuilt the engine, the engine case was inspected and line
boarded and the crankshaft was inspected and magnafluxed. The
engine was re-assembled, including new main bearings, rod bearings,
oil pump, intermediate shaft, gears, pistons and cylinders, base
gaskets, and oil return tubes. The cylinder heads with rocker
housings were installed. The cams, chain housings, rocker arms,
chain cover, spark plugs, and valve covers were installed. The
40IDA Weber carburetors were rebuilt. Fresh oil, oil filter, fuel
filter were installed, the carburetors were adjusted, and the
engine was tuned. The valves were adjusted, timing and dwell set,
and the valve cover gaskets were installed; the rear main seal, the
front seal, the oil cooler seal, the oil thermostat, and the seal
were all replaced.
Complete with maintenance record booklet, tool kit, jack, dog bone
passenger footrest, and spare tire. This is a rare opportunity to
acquire a phenomenal original 914-6 finished in an amazing color
combination. 0-62 mph in 8.7 seconds with a top speed of 129 + MPH.
It is truly a pleasure to drive with plenty of power. If you've
been looking for a very original 914-6, look no further!
