The 1938 Chieftain was part of the broader shift in automotive
design toward more streamlined, art-deco-inspired aesthetics. The
front end featured a more sculpted and aerodynamic look, with a
distinct Pontiac grille that featured vertical chrome bars. The
body was lower& sleeker compared to its predecessors, in keeping
with the trend toward "new, modern" automotive designs of the time.
It had a long, graceful hood, giving the car a more luxurious
appearance, and the rear end was rounded with integrated rear
fenders.
The Body of the Car is painted in Sunlight Copper while retaining
its Black Fenders & Running Boards. The Interior is Black inside
with a few modern touches but still preserving most of its
originality.
Originally equipped with a Flathead Inline 6 Engine & 3 Speed
Manual, this one has been upgraded to a more modern driveline for
todays roads. It is now equipped with a Small Block Chevrolet
350c.i. Engine with a Holley Sniper EFI System & Turbo 350 3 Speed
Automatic Transmission.
The 1938 Chieftain represented a significant step in Pontiacs rise
to prominence as a brand known for both style & performance within
the affordable range of GMs offerings.
