We just purchased 7 cars from Original Parts Group's collection!
This Chevelle was one of the owner's favorites. It's a celebrity in
the automotive world. Featured in multiple editorial features on
Motor Trend and Hot Rod, it was showcased in ads, blogs, emails,
and numerous car shows. It's even graced the screen in commercials
and promotions. It's been photographed alongside automotive TV
hosts Christy Lee and more. It was displayed in OPG's booth at SEMA
2007 and won Best GM Restored Vehicle. It was purchased from a
little old lady in San Diego. It is a highly optioned, real Super
Sport. The owner of OPG built it how he would have ordered it back
in 1966. He hired JH Restorations to give it a complete body off
frame restoration to better than new condition.
EXTERIOR: The fit and finish exceeds how it was brand new. The gaps
are square and flush. The body is laser straight from any angle.
Doors shut like new. Repainted in Artesian Turquoise without a
vinyl top. It is beautiful! Starside Design painted it using 2
stage PPG urethane color followed by a clear coat. It is polished
like glass. All the trim was replaced using OPG parts. New
weatherstrips, window fuzzies and windshield. Sitting on
reproduction redline tires and restored poverty wheels.
INTERIOR: Stunning matching turquoise and full of very desirable
options. Restored carpet to headliner using OPG parts. Down on the
floor is turquoise carpet and matching mats. The seats were
cushioned and upholstered. The center console looks new and has a
working clock, the shift indicator was updated to match the
overdrive trans. The door panels and armrests were replaced. Did
you notice it has rare power windows? The headliner, visors, dome
light and mirror were replaced. In front of you everything looks
new. Features include a 2 spoke deluxe wheel, factory gauges and a
"knee knocker" tachometer. It looks virtually new inside, the fit
and finishes are great!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Disguised as the original 396 but it is
actually a 427-425 hp engine! Rebuilt by James Ferguson,
Speed-O-Motive machined and balanced the motor. It has square port
heads and factory aluminum intake, a Comp Cam, Miloden oil system,
MSD ignition system and an SMI carburetor. Dressed in reproduction
OPG chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Features include factory
air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Every component
looks new. It has reproduction hoses, clamps, battery cables, fuel
line etc. It is finished right down to the squirters being hooked
up. All the metal surfaces are painted smooth.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Just like it rolled out of the factory! Under
the trunk lid and jamb are painted as slick as the car. Inside is
rock solid metal neatly spatter painted. It has reproduction
decals, weatherstrip, trunk mat, tire cover and seat backing. The
spare is a matching reproduction red line and painted rim with a
jack assembly too.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame. It was taken to a bare
frame, media blasted and painted. It was reassembled using all new
steering and suspension components. It has the F-41 suspension
which includes boxed rear control arms and swaybars. The shocks are
upgraded. Street Rod Muffler & Exhaust custom made the exhaust and
used Flowmaster mufflers. The entire brake system was redone.
Lines, hoses, and e-brake assembly was replaced. The entire fuel
system was replaced. Looking up at the motor it has an extra
capacity Miloden oil pan and a high torque starter. The trans was
upgraded with a 200R-4 overdrive automatic. Custom built driveshaft
leads back to a 12 bolt rear end. The floors are clean metal
painted satin black.
SERVICE: It went through our shop for a thorough inspection, we
tidied up loose ends. We replaced the shifter slider, charged the
air conditioning, replaced a high beam bulb, grounded the wiper
switch, repaired the horn contact, installed radio nuts, rewired
the power window switch, replaced the driver's power window motor
and glued weatherstrip on driver's door.
I've bought thousands of collector cars and I'm going to tell you
this one is exceptional. The fit and finish is amazing, it has
great options, great curb appeal and a very interesting story and
background. There will be others, but you don't want to miss this
one!
For nearly 30 years, I, Jay Grams, have personally written the
highlights for almost every car in our collection. What I provide
is my professional opinion based on my experience with these
vehicles. However, opinions can vary, and I strongly recommend a
personal inspection to form your own view. Our sales team is always
available to answer any questions you may have. One great option is
to request a personalized walk-around video, where we can showcase
the car and share our team's insights. **Our cars are displayed
within a museum setting. If you are interested in a specific
vehicle, please schedule an appointment with a salesperson to view
it. Without an appointment, there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you decide to purchase a car, your admission will be
refunded, and you'll receive a one-year museum membership.
