Vehicle Description
2018 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker
When Stellantis announced the end of production for the modern
muscle cars of Dodge, some panic set in and people undoubtedly went
looking for a last chance internal combustion powered Charger or
Challenger. There's already speculation that as the return on
investment for electric vehicles continues to diminish even as
strip mining increases, that the muscle car will eventually return
with a glorious cavalcade of high horsepower V8's. Until then, pre
owned vehicles are your best bet to have one of the "last" muscle
cars produced in the modern century.
For consignment, a 2018 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker with
a title verified 3,187 actual miles wearing a coat of Indigo Blue,
a shaker hood, and the telltale redesigned Super Bee emblem on the
front fenders. Cartoons have long played a part in Mopar muscle
cars, so an angry bee wearing a helmet, a Cheshire smile, side
exhausts and an extended stinger is in no way out of place on this
seriously powerful car.
Exterior
Fifteen colors were available for the 2018 Challenger and by now,
you've probably seen them all on the street. We like the Indigo
Blue on this car which when matched with black accenting, takes on
a deep hue that glides over large body panels like a vat of blue
ink. Flat black colors the most prominent body accent in the form
of a center stripe which is wide and flanked by smaller ripple
stripes, first taking in the Shaker hood, traversing over the top,
then down onto the trunk lid, finding its terminus at the upturned
rear spoiler, also in flat black. To balance the wind management, a
prominent front chin spoiler is present, and this one has no yellow
guard! The haloed headlights take the profile of the original
Challengers and give it an intimidating gaze and the nostrils
rising from the hood on the shake solidify this car's visual
attitude. 20-inch wheels are just right for this big boy, and
charcoal insets allow the spokes to stand out while a race inspired
gas cap augments the muscular tone. There are some scuffs and
scratches in the paint and the chin spoiler has some scrapes and
scuffs. The rocker panel is made of black plastic and has suffered
a bit of damage on one side.
Interior
Robust plastic formed door panels have a black cloth insert and
white stitched vinyl door pull and arm rest. This pattern is
borrowed, in part, by the front bucket seats which have white
stitched cloth framing and houndstooth inserts of gray and black,
and those colors are repeated in the Scat Pack logo on each seat
back. The side bolstering is some of the hardiest around on
passenger cars while the rear 2+2 seating is less defined but a far
cry from 1970. There are belts for three, a pull down armrest, and
head restraints for the two main seats. Meaty grips adorn the
ergonomic steering wheel along with a plethora of thumb controls
leading to a colorful digital instrument cluster now synonymous
with modern Mopar muscle. An information screen is in the center
and the AM/FM/CD radio has navigation, XM capability, Bluetooth,
8.4 U-connect, and is CarPlay and Android Auto capable. There's
also a reverse camera. In the brushed nickel panel of the center
console sits the radio and A/C controls and of course, the stout
shifter with nifty indicator panel on the handle itself. Low pile
black carpet covers the floor along with fitted mats, looking good,
and the formed headliner and overhead console are in great shape,
complete with handles if the need for holding on arises. And it
will. Gray cloth panels finish the trunk space where spotless
conditions are found.
Drivetrain
A clean engine bay awaits us and is occupied by a 392ci Hemi V8
rated at an astounding 485 horsepower, all backed by an 8-speed
Torqueflite automatic transmission and power is routed to the rear
wheels and 3.09 gears. Brembo brakes occupy the power disc units on
all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Pretty much spotless underneath with just wisps of typical surface
rust and no errant fluids or debris anywhere. The dual exhaust
flows in tandem from the cats into FlowMaster mufflers eventually
finding its way to dual chrome tips on each side taking their place
in the sculpted rear valance. Suspension consists of Macpherson
struts in front and coil springs in back.
Drive-Ability
We're no strangers to these Modern muscle Mopar marvels but the
houndstooth interior might be a first for us and we're always
impressed with the way the interiors envelope the driver with
ergonomic precision. The Hemi lights up with an impressive exhaust
note that never gets old and we kick it into gear and spin this
blue beauty around the test loop. Needless to say, acceleration is
off the charts and handling matches its prowess. Mind your wheel
spin because this car rides on 45 series Z-rated tires! Meanwhile,
every possible function available works as expected. While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
This blue street machine is drivable every day, and why wouldn't
you?! It's fast, roomy, somewhat practical and most of all, fun,
fun, fun....and your daddy CAN take the T-bird away! All the
classic looks of the legendary muscle car and all the reliability
of a computerized modern car. Now you can eat your cake and have it
