For 1959, the GM Design Center would set the "look" and basic body
parameters for a number of wheelbases, firewall and door hinge
lines, floor and roof height, and so on. Chevrolet stylists took a
huge gamble that those huge horizontal fins, even in a tailfin
crazy market, and it would catch the fancy of the new-car buyer.
Wide "cat's-eye" taillights never prototyped on any GM dream car
drove home the impression. As the dropped-in-front look was
beginning to move from street rods to late-models. Every inch of
this '59 has been touched in some way! The long, sloping lines of
this car have been accented by various paint & stainless trim
accents. The orange & off-white custom paint makes this car stand
out in the crowd! Power comes from a legendary 409 CID big-block
engine, with an MSD ignition system, paired with a 700R4 automatic
overdrive transmission transferring ground-pounding power to a Ford
9 inch with 3.70 gears. A Custom Auto-Sound stereo system provides
entertainment while the Vintage Air Conditioning system keeps
driver & passengers comfortable while cruising down the road! Other
drivability & creature comforts include power steering, power
brakes, custom alloy wheels shod with steel-belted radial tires,
tilt steering wheel, Classic Instruments gauges & to finish it off,
it has a custom vinyl interior mimicking the original design. While
the hood emblem, fender & door trim have been air-bushed on for a
custom touch, the fins & trunk lid retain the factory stainless
steel trim. If you've ever wanted a '59 Chevrolet, don't let this
one get away!
