Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to represent this rugged
1976 Land Rover Series III truck! Though inspired by the World War
II jeep, the Land Rover immediately distinguished itself from all
other cars. From launch, it was the first mass-produced civilian
four-wheel drive car with doors on it, and an available hard roof.
Contrary to conventional car and truck chassis, it used a sturdier
fully box-welded frame. Furthermore, due to post-war steel
shortage, and aluminum surplus, Land Rovers received non-rusting
aluminum alloy bodies, favoring their longevity. The series III is
the most common series vehicle, with 440,000 of the type built from
1971 to 1985.This 1976 example comes to us from overseas, having
lived its previous life rolling through the dunes and high plains
of the Namibian desert as a luxury lodge safari vehicle. With no
exposure to rain or salt, you don't have to worry about any
structural rust, weakness, or wear. This vehicle has only had 2
owners since 1976 before the current owner brought the vehicle to
the states. Prior to importation, the vehicle was restored by
mechanics from the Land Rover Owners of Namibia Club. This included
a new two-tone paint job, upgraded auxiliary fuel pump, freshly
reupholstered dashboard, main bench, rear bench seats, a new
starter, carburetor, ignition and starter wiring harnesses, plus
cleaned lines, new fluids and new filters. This short wheel base
vehicle can be stripped down to a convertible (with full knock down
windshield), or be capped off with an accompanying external roll
cage with roof. The roll cage is ideal for carrying expedition
gear, surfboards, or even to provide extra carrying room for
luggage in the back bed. The vehicle is also being sold with a
bikini top thrown in (we recommend the new owner either supply a
hoop or simply remove a bar from the existing roll cage to suit the
bikini top). Powering this ideal beach or intown cruiser is a
beautiful inline six cylinder petrol engine with 4 speed manual
transmission - all recently serviced after importation to ensure
you're getting a car ready to be a daily driver or just a Sunday
morning cruiser. You'll pull plenty of looks with this former
safari vehicle as you determine what new adventures this car is
ready for.
