Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Kansas City is proud to present this
beautiful, fully customized and award winning 1946 Chevrolet Coupe.
This 1946 Chevy Coupe under went a complete rebuilt of the entire
car and this coupe was built to be driven. The motor is a Chevy
small block 400, 383 Stroker motor and the heads are ported. The
transmission is a turbo 350 built specifically for the motor. The
owner states that the body was removed from the frame, stripped
down to bare metal along with the frame. The frame was completely
rebuilt and painted along with an independent front end by Fat Man.
The body under went a total rebuild. When you park the car next to
a stock body you will really see all the subtle changes, along with
the very noticeable changes. This one of a kind custom 1946
Chevrolet Coupe would make an amazing centerpiece to any
collection! The top was chopped 3". The windshield and back glass
are recessed into the body just like modern windshields and even
the wing windows are functional. It has power windows and door
openers which you will not find on just any 46 Chevrolet Coupe
allowing you to open doors from the key fob. The top of hood of the
car was removed for a new sheet metal top. That was done instead of
welding the center hood seam which could cause warping and possibly
rust later in life. The new hood skin was cut out and a slight
brake was made in a sheet metal brake to form the hood peek. Then
it was oxy acetylene welded and hammer welding, old school. The
hood nose is laid back 2.5" from stock. Until you see it setting
next to another car you will not notice it because it is so subtle.
The hood scoops were made using a " steel rod and fully welding
both sides of the rod in to place. The rain drip rails were removed
and a " steel rod was welding on both sides and molded into place.
The belt line below the back glass going around to each back window
to help break up the body and create a better body line. This is a
subtle but dramatic change that really enhances the appearance of
the Coupe. The final paint and body work was performed by the famed
builder and painter Rodger Ward in Ottawa Kansas at Bad Paint
Company who has had several magazine cars over the years. This
stunning Coupe also has frenched head lights, filled door handles,
frenched taillights, and a smoothed bumper and grill. The wheels
are Torque Thruster wheels. 17" up front and 18" on back. The rear
end is Posi-trac with 3:23 gearing. Holley Sniper fuel injection
has also been recently added. The radiator was replaced with a new
aluminum radiator with electric fans. Evans High performance
coolant was also used over standard coolant its entire life. Front
disc brakes have also been installed and the brake lines were
replaced with new ones. This amazing 1946 Chevrolet Coupe is
absolutely show-ready and could steal any car show at a moments
notice. Some additional features of this stunning 1946 Chevrolet
Coupe include A/C, AM/FM radio, GPS, Power Steering, Power locks
and also keyless entry.
