Vehicle Description
Plymouth fans! And soon to be Plymouth fans! Gateway Classic Cars
of Fort Lauderdale a lucky to offer this hot looking 1968 Plymouth
GTX in dark green! Ok let's start this out right- yep, it's a real
one, AND it is a 440 HP VIN car! Vin starts with RS23L8A
(Belvedere, GTX, Hardtop, 440 High Performance, 1968, built in good
'ole Detroit Michigan). Yessir- a real Woodward Avenue terror. You
gotta wonder how many cars it spanked back in the day (and how many
sets of 70 series tires it baked). Ah yes- the sight, sound and
smell of an American Muscle Car. Something a Tesla just can't
duplicate, let alone any modern vehicle. And now, these cars are
investments as much as they are fun. There's something about the
name "GTX" that just says bass-ass. It makes GTO sound tame and
Mustang sound like sandwich spread (just kidding Pontiac and Ford
guys). The GTX is a cut above the Road Runner; more of a
luxury-class hot rod if you will, as exterior trim and interior
finishes offered more detail. There's still a 440 under the hood,
and this one was rebuilt 4000 miles ago with aluminum heads and
intake. Hedman ceramic coated headers expel all the fury and Mopar
performance valve covers replace the rather boring stamped steel
ones. She was built to 500 horse specs. An 8-quart oil pan makes
sure there's always plenty of blood to keep it healthy. This is
more than a light to light dominator. A Strange posi rear end
features 3:73-1 gears, and a new 518 overdrive transmission drops
the revs on the freeway to make it even more streetable and perhaps
a tad bit more economical. A Bee Cool aluminum radiator helps
offset the crazy power this car makes, keeping it in check. Wilwood
front disc brakes are responsible for bringing the party to an end.
This Plymouth fires right up and has a tough lopy idle that'll put
a smile on anyones face. The 60's baby. It was quite a time.
Outside, the paint is smooth and of very good quality, looking
pretty much factory stock. It was taken down to bare metal, most of
which was still original, and the original floors are still in
place. Original glass still in place. Fit and finish is first
class, however the decklid could use some final adjustment. Inside,
you'll find a fresh, neat and tidy interior cooled by added Vintage
Air Conditioning, and original seat belts were restored by Ssnake
Oil of Texas. Overall an outstanding car that will give you
goosebumps. The dash was all redone, new gauges, carpet, headliner,
Redondo AM/FM w/ Bluetooth, factory console,
