Vehicle Description
The Morgan Car Company was founded in 1910 and one year later
produced their first automobile that featured one of the first
forms of independent suspension. The company is based in Malvern,
Worcestershire and still assemble all their cars by hand. Morgan
began production with simple 3-wheeled vehicles and with a pause
during WW1 they continued manufacturing these until slowly phasing
them out once they debuted their first 4-wheeled automobile in
1935. The Morgan Plus 4 had 3 separate production runs with the
first starting in 1950 and ending in 1969 with only 4,584 being
built, the Plus 4 has been revived multiple times for short periods
of production and can still be bought brand new today and greatly
resemble the Morgan designs of old.
The Morgan Plus 4s began using front disc brakes as standard
equipment in 1960 and have consistently used Triumph TR series
engines for their vehicles and in 1962 they began using the more
powerful Triumph TR4 2138cc engine. Over the years of production,
the Plus 4 has been available as a 2- or 4-seater roadster. With
Morgan Car Company exclusively building their cars inhouse and by
hand they average less than a thousand a year, continuing even
today, and only 271 Morgan Plus 4s were built for the 1965
year.
