Currently serving as Vice Chairman for Hendrick Motorsports,
driver's board representative, and successful broadcaster, Jeff
Gordon is still incredibly involved in the world of NASCAR, however
his biggest impression left on the sport would likely be from one
of the moments spent behind the wheel during his two decade racing
career. A four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion (1995, 1997, 1998
and 2001), Jeff Gordon brought not only tremendous talent, but also
a refined image that helped attract corporate sponsorships and
elevate the sport to the next level. After a well decorated career
earning 93 victories with Hendrick Motorsports, Jeff Gordon was
inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2019 after appearing on
96-percent of the ballots in his first year of eligibility.
Built by Hendrick Motorsports in November of 2001, this example,
chassis No. 24-244, was driven by Jeff Gordon in three-consecutive
Budweiser Shootout races (2002-2004) where the hall-of-famer
piloted this vehicle to three top-five finishes. Formerly raced at
the Daytona International Speedway from 1979 to 2022, the Budweiser
Shootout was an exhibition race which hosted only drivers who had
qualified on pole in the prior season or former Shootout / Sprint
Cup champions. As a three-time champion of the Daytona 500, the
"Wonder Boy" knew exactly what he liked at the Daytona
International Speedway and was able to get this vehicle perfectly
dialed in with his team at Hendrick Motorsports.
After being decommissioned from NASCAR in 2005, this vehicle was
recommissioned in 2015 as a Hendrick Motorsports Certified Race
Car, a program where, "Each car offered is meticulously rebuilt by
our highly experienced race team members. With components pulled
from the same inventory as used by the race teams...". This work
performed by Hendrick has since been well maintained as chassis
24-244 is offered in excellent condition today. Still configured
for Super Speedway racing, chassis 24-244 is powered by a
NASCAR-spec 358 cu-in SB2 V8 paired with a four-speed manual
transmission.
A highly collectible Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR raced by all-time
great Jeff Gordon, this racing car comes complete with substantial
documentation including detailed build sheets and Certificate of
Authenticity directly from Hendrick Motorsports. Well decorated and
highly respected by the racing community, Jeff Gordon is serving as
honoree for this year's Amelia Island Concours, perhaps the perfect
opportunity for the next caretaker to inquire about a
signature!
