Vehicle Description
VERY SLICK SHORT BED! BUILT 6.0L VORTECMAX V8, AUTO, WOW
It's obvious that GM built 1/2 ton pickups like this 1996 GMC
Sierra 1500 with utility and practicality in mind, but they
certainly didn't forget about style. Sure, it's still a rugged
truck underneath, but on the outside it's one of the best-looking
trucks ever built. Add in the slick white paint job, custom
interior, and built LS V8 that constitute this beauty, and you've
got one of the cooler modern Restomod trucks we've ever featured
here at Collectible Motorcar. Elevated into something truly
special, this 'new' classic pickup is ready to dominate for decades
to come.
This truck's sleek, monochromatic look comes from careful blending
of bright white paint with careful aftermarket parts like the
color-matched grille and front bumper, rear roll pan, painted black
mirrors and handles, and blacked-out 20-inch wheels that set the
pickup's aggressive stance. The finish work on the resprayed paint
is very high-end, probably nicer than what you'd get stock in the
mid-90s, and the laser-straight bodywork means it has always been
someone's special truck. The color is Artic whiter, but with the
addition of all those color-matched components, no factory paint
ever had a glow like this - lit with an inner fire that is still
low-key but draws you in once you notice it. The effect is quite
appealing. Out back, the bed was resparyed with fresh whait paint
that really looks great. And there's enough real estate back there
to drag away half of Home Depot with you on the weekends. Other
neat touches include the big billet GMC emblem in the front grille,
fresh headlights/taillights with LED switch backs, and tinted
windows that give the truck a mysterious disposition that works
great.
The C/K pickups were all fairly plain and straightforward in these
years, so the former owner of this '96 decided to kick things up a
notch with a custom gray interior to match the beautiful white
finish. Flanking a matching center console, and it's all still in
great condition. The big stock steering wheel wall replaced with a
more custom wheel to give this truck more attitude and immediately
reminds you that this is a sport truck, as does the custom 7.5in
Holley display for gauges just beyond it, to help keep a keen eye
on the big motor under the hood. The truck is outfitted with
options like a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo head unit. It's still
comfortable and easy to drive, pretty much what we expect from our
vehicles today, albeit with an old-school grunt when you mash the
gas.
Fully detailed and ready to go, the engine bay is as much a
show-off piece as a functional machine. The BUILT!! LQ9 6.0L V8
Vortec Max motor rumbles and shakes the ground beneath it, and you
can feel added power up and down the throttle. A cold-air intake
tube and coned filter feed air to help the fuel-injected motor
breathe, as do the PRC Heads, stage 3 BTR cam and, ceramic LT
headers at the sides that lead into a rumbling 3in stainless
exhaust system that exits just before the rear axle. The modern
serpentine drive system for the accessories keeps everything tucked
in tightly to the block and there's a big aluminum radiator with
two massive electric fans up front that keeps the whole show nice
and cool. Underneath you'll find a built 4L65E 4-speed automatic
transmission and a factory but modified 8.5in 10-bolt posi rear end
with 3.73 gears, meaning that this truck can still work for a
living just as easy as it can cruise. Upgraded shocks and springs
set the wicked static stance, and with power steering and power
front disc brakes you can expect a comfortable ride every time out.
20-inch Weld wheels wearing Nitto performance radials finish off
the look, and we absolutely love how they play off the bright white
paint.
Still cool after all these years, GM has yet to top the slick
trucks of the mid-90s. With this one, you'll be the envy of every
cruise night you attend. Call today!
