For Sale: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Real Bel Air V-8 hardtop, original motor and trans. Body off frame restored, from a NC collection. It's a pleasure to cruise with it's smooth running 265, automatic trans, power steering and a modern air conditioning system.

EXTERIOR: The body is really nice. It's a 15 year old restoration and there's no rust, cracking or bubbles that I could find. The panels fit very nicely. Refreshing colors, the paint is polished very smooth and glossy. It looks like literally every piece of exterior trim has been replaced. Up front it has the big bumper guard. The grill, hood trim, headlight, bird on the hood and emblems have been replaced. It has the correct antenna, dual mirrors and door handles with the fingernail guards. In back the tail light housings bumpers, bumper guards, emblems were replaced. It has the correct stainless tips on the tail pipes. The stainless trim all around the windows, the moldings down the sides and on the rockers look like new. The window frames look like they're new, I think the glass is too. Original rear window. The rims are painted body color, has correct hubcaps and radial white wall tires. The door jambs are painted real nice and have new weatherstrips.

INTERIOR: It was restored with reproduction door panels and upholstery. It has the correct tight loop carpet on the floor, overhead is a white perforated headliner and visors in excellent condition. The dome light works. The metal inside the car was repainted smooth and glossy. The trim on the dash looks like it's all been replaced. They updated it with an updated chrome tilt column and custom steering wheel. The a/c controls are incorporated into the original control panel and the vents are neatly installed under the dash. The clock even works! Kick panels, knobs, mirror, speaker shelf, dimmer switch, firewall insulation, window cranks and handles were all replaced. A retro stereo fits right in the factory hole.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: You can tell it was all apart and restored. The 265 V-8 motor runs smooth as can be, like a mouse in slippers. It has correct casting codes and stamped #s. It has stock manifolds, valve covers and air cleaner. The correct 4 barrel carb was rebuilt, has correct glass fuel bowl filter. All the brackets, components, pulleys, generator look stock and clean. It has a factory power steering system with an upgraded CPP steering box. New wiring harness and horns. Optional electric wipers. Vintage Air heat and a/c system has been neatly added. It has GM hoses and clamps. The firewall and bottom of the hood is painted body color, inner fenders, core support are smooth satin black.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the trunk is already done, it's painted smooth gloss white. The seat divider, the rubber floor mat and weatherstrip were replaced. The spare is a painted rim with a reproduction white wall tire that has never been used. The jack has been repainted. There is also a set of fender skirts painted to match that go with the car. The wiring was replaced.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for restoration. Under the car is all metal, no rust. Painted a smooth semi gloss black. The chassis is smooth clean metal painted black too. The front end components look proper. All 4 shocks have been replaced. The fuel tank and straps are replaced. The e-brake system looks complete. New original type dual exhaust system with correct tips. The bottom of the motor is spotless, has correct canister oil filter. The starter and fuel pump look new.
