This is a rare and desirable find. A genuine R/T convertible, #s
match and it was born like you see it! According to the vin number
and fender tag the colors and options you see is how it left the
factory. From the air conditioning to the 8-track radio and even
the high impact color! Only 963 R/T convertibles were made total,
this is most likely a 1 of 1 optioned this way.
Mecum recently sold 2 that compare:
An unrestored 340 with no options $126,500.
Restored 383, 4-speed with no options $148,500
This car has great investment potential. It's not perfect but it's
solid, looks good, loaded with options and #s match!
EXTERIOR: Overall, very solid body and looks to have its original
metal. The panels line up square and flush and it's straight. The
R/T comes with the power bulge hood. Repainted its original and
very desirable Top Banana yellow. It is not a high-end paint job
but it's glossy and shows very well. It is dressed up with the hood
stripe and tail stripe. It also came from the factory with a pop-up
gas cap, hood pins, racing mirrors and the chrome rack. Overall,
the trim, glass, grill, and taillight are good. 15 inch Rallye
wheels are in excellent shape. The black power convertible top is
in good shape.
INTERIOR: Overall good shape. It also has some nice features
including the Rallye dash with full set of gauges and tachometer.
It has its original AM 8-track radio which also includes dual
speakers in the dash pad. The dash pad is excellent. There is also
a stereo mounted below the dash. It has a deluxe steering wheel,
complete set of seatbelts and some embroidered mats. The optional
console has its original slap stick shifter.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very healthy running 383 Magnum. It looks stock
on the outside- manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner etc.
Internally must be juiced up, you can hear the hot cam. Recently
upgraded Holley 650 carb. It also has an MSD ignition system.
Features include power steering and brakes. It also has rare
factory air conditioning. Overall, the motor compartment looks
good. The vin # on the core support matches the car. Fender tag is
still attached and it has been decoded; it matches how the car is
today really well.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid trunk, the quarters look original. Under
the trunk lid is painted nice. It has a working trunk light. The
weatherstrip, well liner and mat look fresh. It has a jack.
UNDERSIDE: It appears to be solid and proper. The floors, frame
rails, lower 1/4s all look to be original clean metal with factory
undercoat. The suspension and steering look good. Fuel tank was
replaced at some point. Great sounding Flowmaster exhaust with
correct square tips. Disc brakes in front, e-brake assembly is
hooked up. Looking up at the motor it looks clean, has a high
torque starter. It has proper casting codes and date; the matching
vin is stamped right above the oil pan. Vin # matching 727
Torqueflite automatic trans was completely rebuilt 2020.
This is a cool muscle car you can get in and enjoy. It's also
better than money in the bank. This is a blue chip investment car-
rare and desirable!
SERVICE: During our inspection we spent $1,156 on service. We
adjusted the carb, changed oil, new spark plugs, new valve cover
gaskets, fixed reverse lights, new float on fuel sender, fixed
blower motor, lubed window tracks and serviced the trans: new
fluid, filter and pan gasket.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
