Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is excited to present this
stunning 1965 Corvette L75 4-speed, in Glen Green on dark green. C2
Corvettes (1963-1967) were a big improvement over the first
generation cars, with a new chassis, independent suspension at all
four wheels, along with discs brakes and improved interior. The
earlier C1 Corvettes were beautiful, but the interiors do not
afford as much space, and the solid rear axle limits handling
capabilities. The 1963 chassis design was so good it ran (with very
few modifications) all the way through the last C3 in 1982. This
California "Black Plate" Stingray sold new on July 30th, 1965 at a
total cost of cost of $4,414 to a buyer in San Clemente,
California. The original Protecto-Plate and considerable
documentation back to new is included with the sale of the car. It
is the original factory engine per the owner, who also claims miles
to be correct. The car looks black at first glance but is in fact a
gorgeous dark green color that changes with the light. The body,
paint, brightwork- and a gorgeous set of reproduction Kelsey-Hayes
wheels all look terrific- testament to the care and cost required
to bring a car to this level. Corvette gurus in the area viewed it
when it came in and said "this is VERY nice car". We could not
agree more! The cockpit-like interior feels great. The folks at
Chevrolet really got it right, from the aircraft like dashboard,
array of gauges and controls, down to the crisp-shifting 4-speed
shifter. This car fires right up and drives as if it just rolled
off the assembly line. Time travel anytime you want it! There is
nothing like hopping in a 57 year old automobile- one where someone
clearly took the time and care required to make sure it operated as
it was originally designed to. This car is exactly that. Air
conditioning was tastefully added, making this Stingray as cool
inside as it looks outside. The L75 327 4 barrel 300 horsepower V8
is connected to a Muncie 4-speed, and the standard exhaust system
exits out the back- making it more pleasant to drive than one with
side pipes. Seldom do we see such a nice car in this price range,
and we suspect it will sell soon. The car runs and drives as new.
