Vehicle Description
This 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme has the premium style and big
455 V8 under the hood to remind us of the ultra-desirable SX model.
So check out the cool two-tone look, cooler A/C interior, and
overall impressive style of this sleek upper-class coupe.
Oldsmobile fans know the legend of the Cutlass SX. They were built
to be incognito muscle cars where the power was hidden within the
premium style. So they looked like a loaded version of the more
formal Holiday Hardtop version. So you didn't get a fastback or a
big rear spoiler, and instead, you often had the premium features
like the taut-fitting vinyl roof seen here. In fact, the only hint
of muscle car the SX often showed was the 442-style rear bumper
that was notched to accommodate the big dual exhaust tips. So this
one has the right SX kind of style, but since it's more about SX
inspiration than an SX clone, you'll also see some distinct
touches. For example, the SX never had the hood racing stripes, but
they look right here as they coordinate with the vinyl roof and
trunk pinstriping. The beautiful glow of the Twilight Blue Metallic
paint, bright chrome bumpers, clean glass, and nice lines prove
there has been a solid restoration in this Olds. So the overall
impression is a sporty coupe that's going to get a lot of attention
from more than just Oldsmobile fans.
The ivory interior harmonizes nicely with the white exterior
accents to continue the proper premium feel. This is a great
driver-oriented coupe with features like the front bucket seats, an
armrest center console, and a four-spoke Olds sports steering
wheel. This even has the Hurst "His and Hers" dual gate shifter - a
terrific icon of the muscle car era. More than just engaging the
driver, this is a nice car to bring everyone along. You have good
classic details, like clean upholstery, soft carpeting, plenty of
wood-like trim, a time capsule-like trunk, and a full working
courtesy light package. Plus, the radio has been upgraded to a
retro-style AM/FM digital tune to give upgraded driving music. The
factory air conditioning was even converted to R134a refrigerant
for better servicing and modern operation.
Under the hood is the almighty 455 cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel
carburetor on top. This was the hallmark of the SX package where
you were given a 442-level muscle in an incognito luxury package.
And just like the rest of this car, the engine bay is worth
showcasing thanks to fresh blue block paint that looks especially
nice next to the exterior blue. More than just look good, the way
this big V8 fires up and runs reaffirms the feeling of a solid
investment throughout this Olds. As you look at the undercarriage
photos, it's another reminder of how clean the full build is, and
you'll also spot nice power car features like the boxed rear rams
and rear sway bar. It really has the right classic muscle car
attitude, right down to the Super Stock wheels and raised white
letter tires. But more than just a big power machine, this Cutlass
Supreme still serves its underlying easy cruising nature well. The
three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc
brakes are a fine recipe for an all-day drive on your favorite
roads.
This is the shining Olds coupe with some irresistible SX kind of
appeal. It makes for a powerful and premium coupe that you know
needs to be in your garage. Call today!!!
