Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is Proud to present this 1970 AMC
Javelin SST. The 390ci V8 engine was rebuilt in 2015 and has 3000
miles since rebuild. The Hurst 4 Speed Manual Transmission was also
rebuilt in 2015 and has 3000 miles since rebuild. The rear end is a
model 20 with 3:54 gears. Front power disc brakes give this Javelin
the feel of a serious sports cars! This high compression 4 Barrel
390 V8 is believed to put down around 325hp. Additionally, the
story of the Mark Donohue Javelin is fascinating, making this
example an interesting buy. This Javelin is singed on the dash by
Mark Donahue's son. Documenting an original Mark Donohue car is
difficult, because there's basically no way to confirm it other
than the window sticker and other dealer paperwork. Nothing in the
vehicle identification number or door data tag identifies it; and
while some AMC diehards insist a number 4 typed in the "ASC"
(Automatic Speed Control) box on the build sheet is a sure sign of
the Donohue package, because the 1970 Javelin wasn't offered with
ASC, it has never been verified.
