Vehicle Description
Offered with 10,201 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt),
this 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is accompanied by its original
Window Sticker confirming factory features, options and its
$450,000 basic MSRP. The aggressive, visually stunning SLR body,
including radical upward-opening doors, is finished in Crystal
Laurite Silver paint, with the front fascia, hood and mirrors all
covered in protective clear bra material. The deceptively luxurious
interior is trimmed in black leather, with entertainment in
addition to the raucous SLR exhaust system provided by an
audiophile-quality 7-speaker Bose stereo system. Other highlights
include power-assisted 4-wheel carbon-ceramic disc brakes with
silver-finished calipers, turbine-style alloy wheels, Michelin
Pilot Sport tires, Stability Control, power steering, power windows
and dual-zone air conditioning, plus a competition-inspired
push-button starter integrated into the shifter. Accompanied by all
factory-issued books/manuals, original keys and service records,
this 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is an unqualified supercar on
every possible level, ready to collect and enjoy. Introduced in
2003 and developed in conjunction with the McLaren Technology
Centre in Woking, UK, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren paid homage to
the immortal W196-based 300SLR of 1955 Mille Miglia fame and the
original 300SL, with design cues derived from the joint
McLaren-Mercedes F1 effort of the early 2000s. Featuring
carbon-fiber monocoque construction, the SLR was powered by
Mercedes' all-aluminum SOHC 5.4L V8 engine featuring three valves
per cylinder and dry-sump lubrication. A Lysholm-type twin-screw
supercharger, combined with twin intercoolers, provides 13-psi
boost pressure, yielding 617 bhp at 6,500 rpm in concert with the
AMG Speedshift R transmission with three manual shift modes. Other
stunning technical features include carbon-fiber-backed seats, the
Sensotronic brake-by-wire system with carbon-ceramic discs and an
automatically deployed rear airbrake. Performance of the SLR is
shattering, with 0-60 mph acceleration in 3.2 to 3.5 seconds, the
quarter-mile in 11 to 11.5 seconds, and a 209-mph top speed, with
over 1.0g road holding.
