Vehicle Description
This is the ultimate Porsche 914 sleeper and is a blast to drive.
While there are may modified 914s out there, very few exercise such
restraint in the their cosmetic presentation. When standing next to
this unassuming 914, it's hard to believe that it has around 400hp
from its 2.5L turbocharged Subaru engine that was supplied by noted
builder, Gary Call. The 5-speed gearbox is a Porsche 901 5-speed
that was rebuilt at the time of installation and is working as
intended. The brakes were upgraded to BMW units that not only
increase stopping power, but also fit underneath the 14" factory
wheels. It takes more than some desirable parts to make a
functional and reliable car especially when you are swapping an
air-cooled 4-cylinder for a water-cooled turbocharged and
intercooled 4-cylinder. This task was expertly handled by Eriksson
Enterprises on Monterey's Penninsula in CA. The original engine was
removed, necessary holes were made for all plumbing and cooling and
then reinforcements were made to handle what equates to almost 4x
the original horsepower. Once in place, the ECU was tuned and
mapped for street use. With a build cost that exceeds $100,000 and
beautifully executed drivability, this Porsche is a comparative
bargain at the asking price.
