Vehicle Description
I have always thought that the Pre-War 70 Series Oldsmobiles had
amazing styling and were perfect Pre-War starter collectable cars.
1940 was also a very big year for Oldsmobile and GM as this was the
first year for the Hydra-Matic Transmission. Being new, they did
not sell many due to skepticism however it had a lot of people
looking and would soon win over the population years later. The 230
6 Cylinder is as reliable as they come and were known now and then
for smoothness, torque and overall decent fuel economy. You will be
getting a screaming deal on this car at this price as I feel that
the paint work alone today would cost what you can own this car
for. This Olds has been gone through from bumper to bumper with
what I think is very nice paint, all new window and door seals
etc.... , and all the glass is in great condition. This Olds starts
easy every single time and idles instantly, its smooth and quiet
and has plenty of power. The underside has some surface rust on
some of the components as to be expected, the tires and brakes are
good and the Hydramatic is very smooth. The interior is good, as is
the headliner. This vehicle is on consignment from a Oldsmobile
collector and rumor has it that there is a folder of paperwork
including restoration that needs to be tracked down. If you are in
the market for a very nice Pre-war collectable that is ready to be
enjoyed either on tours or parades or just to look at, then this
car needs a second look.
