This 1986 Chevrolet C10 Silverado has a cool/classic feeling, right
down to its two-tone style and numbers-matching V8 power. But as
you look over the whole truck, you can also see the right detail
upgrades that let this pickup be a great classic cruiser.
The Candy Apple Red and tan are a great era-correct two-tone. It's
part of a later respray that gives the full package a nice gloss in
the sunshine. Because this is a premium Silverado, there's
full-length trim for a lower color boundary and a vivid pinstripe
for the upper border. It makes for a crisp and clean style that's
great for showing off the squared lines that make this C10 look so
steadfast. The whole package is a terrific way to represent classic
style, right down to the hood ornament. But also one major upgrade
is quite obvious. The American Racing Torq Thrust wheels may be a
classic piece, but the 20-inch size is quite modern. And it's now
on a lowered stance with a properly notched frame. It is the right
addition to give this classic the right touch of true cruiser
attitude.
The tan interior has that cool/classic style, right down to the
full interior light package that greets you when the door opens.
But as you get inside, you can see elements like the carpeting,
dash pad, and velour-like seat that have been updated to keep a
stock but fresher feel. And that makes this quite inviting. This is
also attractive because it's a premium Silverado, and so it comes
with plenty of features that you didn't get in other trucks of the
time. This includes power windows, power locks, and the premium
Delco AM/FM digital tuner stereo with cassette. This even has
provisions for cruise control and R134a air conditioning if you
would like to restore the function. And the driver position is
quite comfortable with a wraparound dash and tilt steering
column.
We love Chevy's 305 cubic-inch small block V8 because it's a stout
powerhouse that loves to get you down the road. There are plenty of
affordable upgrades to unlock some serious power, but the real
enjoyment that's already here is about a solid driver. That's
thanks to easy cruising features like the three-speed automatic
transmission, power steering, power brakes, and front discs. Plus,
the upgraded wheels mean you also get to fit modern/grippy
tires.
