Vehicle Description
Is there any classic that's more recognizable than Volkswagen's
venerable Type 1 Beetle? Afterall, this is a car that
single-handedly built a 65 year legacy out of honest, no frills
transportation. And today, the Bug, as it's affectionately known,
continues to be one of the most endearing rides on the planet. When
it comes to collector cars, it's hard to find a better combination
of retro style and lovable charm than a vintage VeeDub. And from an
enthusiast's standpoint, old school Volks are just laid back, easy
to live with fun machines that enjoy a cult-like following and a
positively gigantic support system. A fully documented survivor
that was enjoyed by the same family for 51 years, this 1966 Beetle
is the ideal classic for any enthusiast who wants one of the
coolest and most unique rides money can buy! Looking for an
approachable collectible? Welcome to the 'people's car'!
Custom ordered in the summer of 1965 at Medina Ohio's Aufmuth
Volkswagen, this super cool Type 1 is pretty much the literal
definition of an automotive time capsule! Produced in September of
that same year, the car rolled into the hands of dedicated VW Club
ambassadors who flew all the way to Wolfsburg, Germany to tour the
Volkswagen factory and take delivery of their new Beetle in its
homeland. After a Volkswagen Club Tour around Europe, the family
ended up in England where the Bug was loaded onto a freighter for
its journey to the New World. Eventually the car arrived at Aufmuth
with a sunroof, Pop Out Windows, seatbelts and a driver's mirror as
its main options. And for the next 20 years, this clean Volkswagen
would remain a meticulously maintained hobby car.
Sadly, in 1989, after the passing of its primary driver, the Beetle
was propped in dry storage on a set of jack stands. When a second
owner came calling, the car's first family was, understandably,
reluctant to part with a significant piece of their history.
However, in time, they decided to give the car new life with
someone they knew would be a "good steward who wouldn't modify
everything beyond recognition". Five years into the future, the
Beetle is, with the exception of fresh tires, every bit as original
as it's always been. But, unfortunately, the car's second owner now
needs to downsize his collection. That means the time is right for
you, owner number three, to become the steward of an exclusive
Volkswagen Type 1 survivor that takes retro cool to a whole new
level!
