Vehicle Description
2012 Dodge Challenger R/T
When it comes to pony cars, as was the Challenger's first outing,
it wasn't early on the scene. In fact, it was one of the last pony
cars of the Detroit Three to roll onto the scene and yet its
lateness didn't make it any less awesome. The 426 HEMI engine,
dubbed "the Elephant Motor," powered the Challenger, as did the
smaller 2.2-liter Slant Six. The powertrain simply blew people away
and made the Challenger not only rise but beat most challenges.
Though this version lasted just five years from 1970-74, it remains
one of the most powerful debuts in the automotive world.
For consignment, a simply amazing Challenger R/T, a garage kept
car, with plenty of go fast goodies helping to make a dyno proven
480hp under the hood. This car has a good history with a clean and
clear title, and perfect Carfax report. This car has been lowered
for the right stance, supercharged, and sports a mere 27,920 actual
miles and is ready to impress in our Hallowed Halls of Classic Auto
Mall.
Exterior
Meticulously cared for, played with and put away nicely for the
next time, this favorite toy is in very good condition. Paint is
wonderfully shiny and freshly detailed with a notable area of
repaint work on the passenger's door justbelow the beltline.
Otherwise it's just smooth metal all minding their gaps. Bathed in
black with a black front wing hanging underneath the menacing black
grille with just a hint of chrome, and a dual cowled hood with some
sassy green R/T stripes flowing down onto the front quarters. With
3M clear bra coating over a body matching integrated front bumper
and retro grille with LED lighting, this car retains a beautiful
aerodynamic form. Matching sport mirrors on either side, and a
small black spoiler on the trunk lid and we are ready to make some
smoke. Big 20-inch Envoy wheels and medium low-profile rubber in
245/45ZR20 format are on all 4 corners. A black foe in the garden
of eden we call the drag strip.
Interior
Black leather with tufted tuck and roll inserts, smooth bolsters and
white stitching covers the front buckets and rear bench. These
seats are in very good condition, with no stains, drips or errors,
just a slight patina on the driver's left bolster. Ergonomically
placed dash instruments, controls and steering wheel allow anyone
of any size to get comfortable. All interior is shades of dark gray
and black, and just a stunning combination to go with the exterior
black. Comfort abounds in biblical proportions, especially in the
center of the dash which holds the climate control dials,
AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo and a variety of push buttons all within
a faux carbon fiber field. 4 round white faced gauges face the
driver and these are fronted by a rally style steering wheel with
more buttons than a Saturn V rocket. We note the addition of more
white face gauges strolling up the driver's A-pillar as well as an
aftermarket shift light. A black console races back from under the
dash and holds the Barton short throw shifter as well as cup
holders and an armrest/storage bin. Clean black carpeting floods
the floors and peering upwards reveals a black broadcloth headliner
framing the factory power moonroof.
Drivetrain
The 5.7 liter Hemi V8, which is original to this car, has been
modified for extra power. It has an intercooled Procharger P1SC1
supercharger and an open element air filter. This mill has been on
the dyno, and it puts out 480hp. We note a polished insert on the
black plastic engine cover as well as a Mopar Performance strut
tower brace. This elephant is bolted to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed
manual transmission and out back is a limited slip 3.92 geared rear
axle. Kooks long tube headers blend into Kooks "Green" cats and
flow rearward to a Hurst cat back exhaust and mufflers. We note the
addition of an oil catch can and a 180 degree thermostat has been
installed. Hell yeah!
Undercarriage
Looking like it has barely been used underneath even with no road
grime! No rust, just straight structurally strong steel, power disc
brakes all around with Mopar Performance slotted rotors and heavy
duty brake pads. Giving the stuck like glue ride is an independent
coil spring front suspension and independent 5 link on the rear are
noted. The ride height has been lowered with Eibach Pro Series
springs and for some extra grip, Mopar Performance sway bars have
been added.
Drive-Ability
This car lights right up upon turning the key and will go at any
speed you want it to. It runs very smoothly, and when that
supercharger kicks in...woooah horsies! It handles great and is
overall a comfortable ride with all functions operational save for
the boost gauge not registering boost. Love the seats...wicked
comfortable!
With plenty of documented dyno power, beautiful retro lines, low
mileage (27,920 original), and well kept, this is a recent classic
you will not go wrong with. A speed demon that will give your
friends a devil of a time trying to beat you on the arm drop. In
fact give them a head start just so they seem to have a chance!
