Vehicle Description
This is a 1963 Alfa Romeo Guilia 101 Spider 1600 barn find! It is a
running and driving car that we just purchased out of 46 years of
storage and ownership. It was stored since the mid-70's in the
third owner's workshop building at home until his passing last
year. It was driven and enjoyed until the late 1970's then put up
and never driven until we purchased it. It has 52k actual miles. We
installed all new brake cylinders, cleaned out the fuel tank and
fuel system, installed a new set of Vrederstein radial tires and
then drove it. It runs, stops and drives well and the 5-speed
manual transmission shifts nicely. It is a running and driving car
but will need some restoration work in the long run. It has some
rust underneath but it is a very solid car that can be enjoyed
right now and fixed up or restored along the way. It does need a
top, the interior needs work and the chrome is old and does need
re-plating. The owner's son told me that the motor was completely
rebuilt about 2 years before his father put the car up in storage
in the late 1970's and he thinks it only was driven a couple
thousand miles since the rebuild. The motor runs strong and sounds
great! It does need a lot of cosmetic help but from 20 feet away it
looks pretty good and is very presentable! It was originally white
with red interior but the second owner had it painted this shade of
medium metallic blue in the early 1970's. The third owner, who we
purchased it from, was an engineer, wood craftsman and artist. He
hand painted some interesting artwork and stripes in the engine
compartment and in the trunk that gives it a bit of an
individualistic flare! It is titled as a 1964 Alfa Romeo but the
vehicle identification number shows that it was built in early 1963
so it really is chronologically a 1963. This is a really great car
for the enthusiast who does not mind doing some restoration work in
their own time while driving and enjoying it right now!!!!
