Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is proud to present this
absolutely stunning 1961 Chevrolet Corvette, in Sateen Silver and
white, on red. C1 Corvettes are some of the coolest ever built-
with an abundance of chrome inside and out, fine detail, great care
in craftmanship, and a wide range of engine options. They are not
just cars- they are works of art. And like this one, you even have
the convenience of a spacious trunk. This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette
is among the first generation of the Corvette sports cars produced
by Chevrolet, produced from 1953 through 1962. This magnificent
example received a thorough restoration resulting in the gleaming
true sports car we see today- a faithful, accurate restoration and
sweet reminder of the days when every kid wanted to be a cowboy or
an astronaut, and John F. Kennedy was newly elected to the
Presidency. Outside and in, the quality and finishes are just
beautiful, certainly a car to be proud of. This investment-grade
Corvette is worth stepping up to. A lesser example will disappoint.
The engine bay looks like a picture right out of a vintage 60's Hot
Rod Magazine vintage road test. This one has the optional 283ci V8,
245hp Engine with two 4 barrel carburetors- and back in the day,
anyone having go-fast stuff like "dual quads" or fuel injection was
envied or worshipped. And there's nothing quite like a pair of
4-barrels screaming as you fast-approach the redline. Try as it
did, Ford's Thunderbird just could not capture the same marketplace
Chevrolet's mighty Corvette could- and so year by year, Thunderbird
drifted in another direction. Corvette earned the attention of car
enthusiasts around the world as a street and track champion, with
no direct U.S. competitors. It gave much higher priced foreign
rivals a helluva run for their money- and with the drop dead good
looks, sealed its place in history forever.
