Vehicle Description
1947 Ford Super Deluxe - 239ci Flathead V8 - Offenhauser Heads and
Intake - 3 Speed Manual Transmission - Black Over Red Interior
Known for his knack to create automobiles for the masses, like the
Model T, Henry Ford continued to produce vehicles for the common
man for many years. After the events of World War II, post war
America was ready for inspiring changes and was looking to tailor
to the ever-increasing middle class. Although Ford's car lines
started prior to the war, it wasn't until after these events that
these coupes and convertibles started catching the eyes of buyers.
Branching out into three distinct automotive lines, Ford offered a
Special, De Luxe, and Super De Luxe to buyers. With a host of
modern technologies and evolutionary design elements, the Ford
automobiles of the post-war era seem to make being timeless
effortless. Displayed here is a 1947 Ford Super De Luxe. Painted in
a classic black paint with matching black convertible top, this
vehicle harks back to an era where things were just much simpler.
The easy lines and curved edges of the body design are complimented
by white wall tires and chrome accents that give this Ford an
iconic aesthetic. The black paint would not be kind any
imperfections, not that we were able to find any. The convertible
top is as expertly conditioned as the body of this vehicle and does
not have any visible flaws. This Super De Luxe is powered by a
239ci flathead V8 that is noted to include Offenhauser heads and
intake as well as a 3-speed manual transmission. The engine
compartment has been skillfully detailed and includes a few
additional chrome items. The undercarriage shows as if it has been
gone through at some point of its life but retains quite a bit of
its original appearance. The classic red leather interior is a nice
contrast to the smooth black paint and has been very well-kept. The
split front bench seat displays a combination of both letter as
well as velour that is not overdone but quite simplistic in nature.
The woodgrain dash is outfitted with many chrome accents that
center around the large speedometer and clock. An original radio is
noted but there is also a newer stereo that has been adapted in the
glove box for more modern listening. The large enamel steering
wheel displays an original horn button and has no visible cracks or
knicks. We are aware that this Ford may not be the most desired
among collectors, but you can not deny the fact that this vehicle
is pure nostalgia. It will not be the fastest. It will not have the
most horsepower. But what it lacks in power or speed, it more than
makes up for in the drive and enjoyment of the vehicle. If you are
looking for a true antique Ford, this De Luxe is waiting for you.
