Nicknamed the Square-body generation of both trucks and SUVs, the
1973 to 1991 model year vehicles were the first generation of
Chevrolet and General Motors vehicles to be designed using the
advanced technology of computers and wind tunnels. Although you
would not think that a boxy, straight-line designed vehicle would
be the result of these technologies, they were optimized for lower
drag and improved fuel economy. Retaining its standard 2-door,
full-size stature with removable convertible top or half-cab
design, the K5 Blazer has remained a popular collector vehicle for
many years. Offered here is a 1978 Chevrolet Blazer which has
previous history in Arizona. Upon initial glance you might note
that this truck is a little rough around the edges, but don't let
its physical appearance fool you as this Blazer is anything but
typical. Underneath the naturally patina-ed exterior is a wealth of
modern technology and power. At the heart of this beast is a LS1
5.7L V8 that is noted to have a number of new parts. Additional
upgrades to the drivetrain include a 4L60E automatic transmission,
QA1 front coil over suspension with sway bar kit, rack and pinion
steering set-up, aluminum radiator with electric fans, and a
brand-new LS swap harness to control the added modern technology.
This Blazer has incredible curb appeal, and has been known to turn
heads in traffic and at car shows. With large aftermarket bronze
wheels and retro graphics, this truck is certainly not something
you run across every day. Following along with the popular patina
look, this truck has some nice patina, the paint from panel to
panel is the same shade of tan. The trim and chrome bumpers are in
nice shape and provide a little bit of contrast to the paint. The
tan leather front buckets and rear bench seat are in great
condition, and are quite comfortable for any ride that you may
take. In addition to an aftermarket radio with CD player is also a
quirky Igloo cooler center console which has cup holders. Not a
stock option, but it fits the aesthetic of this Blazer perfectly.
Technically you could classify this Blazer as a resto-mod due to
all the upgrades that it includes, but one thing is certain that
this truck is truly one-of-a-kind. This Blazer is proven to be a
head turner, and we look forward to getting this truck into the
hands of an enthusiast who will appreciate it. Please call if
interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for
looking.
