Vehicle Description
1999 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Corvette didn't always call Kentucky home, however. In 1953, the
first 300 were built by hand in Flint, Michigan, just after General
Motors unveiled the Corvette as a "dream car" in the Motorama show
in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel. The following year, production
moved to St. Louis. In June of 1981, Corvette production
transferred from St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky. GM began
production of the esteemed Corvette in Bowling Green in 1981, and
the facility has remained the exclusive home of the Corvette for
over 30 years. Known around the world as America's sports car, the
Corvette exemplifies the definition of innovation.
For consignment, a Corvette convertible and with over 55+ models
representing every year, this is only the 5th model in house from
1999! And the only version for sale, as the rest have vacated the
building, offering up smiles to those who made the purchase. An
original two owner car, played with, then neatly put away for the
next time, we now have a low, low mileage, (24,367 confirmed), car
that has led a good life, and is now offered for another's
enjoyment. When I saw the tepid smile on the owner's face, I got a
good feeling someone will have a great time with this car.
Exterior
Near perfect black fiberglass is draped over the high performance
chassis of this car. Hidden headlights, and integrated bumpers
provide the aero package that can whisk you down the highway with
just a touch of the throttle. A black canvas convertible top moves
up and down flawlessly and opens the passenger's up to the real
driving experience. It hides neatly under the body cowl when down
so you'll never notice it. This style Corvette wins the award for
best rear styling with the round embedded tail lights, and the quad
exhaust piercing out the center of the integrated rear bumper. 17"
5 spoke polished wheels are upfront and 18" in the rear. Zoom!
Interior
Sporty black smooth edged and nicely padded leather buckets grab
you as you take a seat inside the cockpit. Black door panel uppers,
with nearly every power control one could want are on the outside
these buckets. A black lower molded plastic with a large built-in
Bose speaker is under the curved pull handle/power toggle panel on
each door. Leather for seats is in good condition with a few
wrinkles and areas of wear, but far from terrible. A heads up
display, along with cruise control, a power memory seat, power
telescoping steering wheel all wrapped up in a curved dash that
presents very clean. Black carpet floods the floors and is in very
nice clean condition. The active handling knobis conveniently
located just behind the shift lever.
Drivetrain
A well manicured 345ho 5.7 Liter LS1 V8 is seen with a front flip
of the hood. This has EFI, and a Tremec T56 6 speed manual
transmission attached. The 3.42 limited slip rear axle
configuration is on, and an active handling package handles the
power this active mill produces.
Undercarriage
Extreme clean sums it up underneath looking very close to showroom
with a touch of patina from just plain age from enjoying this fine
sports car. C5 Corvette suspension all around as are 4 wheel power
disc brakes. A very clean dual exhaust system is noted along with
those 4 chromed tips in the center.
Drive-Ability
An extremely quick starter, and runner. This LS1 V8 can push this
car very quickly up to speed, and due to the comfortable interior,
it is hard to tell exactly how fast you are really traveling.
Overall a good driving experience, and smooth shifting from the
manual tranny. All the power options are functional, and the stereo
sounds fab!
The ONLY 1999 Corvette currently in inventory, and this one is well
cared for, has super low original miles put on, and was played with
then nicely put away in a temp controlled garage, well maintained,
and is just a fun car to drive. Nothing like being low to the
ground and taking a corner like it is not even there..Wild!
