Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte, North Carolina, is proud to list
this classy 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL.As the longest-running
passenger car in Mercedes-Benz history, the R107-series of
SL-roadsters earned its place as an icon of the 70s and 80s,
blending performance, safety, and quality in an impeccably styled
two-seat roadster. Like the R113 that preceded it, the R107 was
designed to be a sports car that you could drive in all conditions.
It was beautifully built, with an optional removable hardtop and
superb build quality, defying the idea that sports cars had to be
finicky and rough around the edges. As Mercedes' flagship sports
car for seventeen years, the R107 looked as crisp and sophisticated
in 1989 as it did in 1972.With just under 114,000 miles, this car
might as well be a time capsule. The Pastel Blue color shines
great, and the dark top compliments it brilliantly. Take the hard
top off, set it in the included stand, and get in. After settling
into the beautiful saddle brown driver's seat, the Nardi steering
wheel begs you to grab it with both hands. Turning the ignition key
fires up the overhead camshaft V8. Now set the Alpine stereo to
your favorite music. All that's left is to put the shifter in "D"
and drive off into the sunset with this classic SL. Call us today
before you watch someone else drive off.
