Vehicle Description
This 1951 Chrysler New Yorker convertible served as the prestigious
motor carriage for the first Canadian Royal tour of her majesty the
Queen (then Princess) and his Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
It is equipped with a 331ci "FirePower" V8 engine and 3-speed
Fluid-Drive transmission-and as is only fitting for royalty-boasts
all available options for 1951, including the "new for '51"
Hydra-Glide power steering. The car resides in a prominent East
Coast collection and has since 2010. It is driven periodically to
retain its mechanical function and routine service maintenance is
always kept up. Today, "the Queen's car" remains a low-mileage,
highly-original car. Much of the paint and all of the upholstery
are original to the car, while the top was replaced with NOS fabric
in 1990. The car has aged gracefully, acquiring a lovely patina and
preserving not only its appearance but also its finishes in a truly
remarkable way. This special car is of course accompanied by
extensive documentation, photographs, and paraphernalia. Many
vintage automobiles are historic, but only a few are historically
significant. This Chrysler is one of those automobiles and
consequently offers a unique opportunity to the astute
collector.
