Vehicle Description

Ford produced 18,670 Fairlane GT 2-door hardtops during the 1967 model year. Of these, 15,196 were produced with the 390 Big block and 8,893 were automatic. This is where Ford finally jumped on the muscle car scene with the Fairlane GT. Yes, this car went head-to-head with the Chevrolet Chevelle 396 the Chevrolet counterpart that combined big cubes and high compression with a relatively lightweight midsize chassis. In price, power, and displacement, it matched up smartly with the Chevelle. Ford began calling any Fairlane GT equipped with the C-6 automatic transmission a Fairlane GTA. In 1967.
