Vehicle Description
Corvette's legendary all-alloy 4-cam '90s ZR-1 was a break from
decades of cast-iron blocks and pushrods in 'performance cars.'
Most enthusiasts are familiar with the Lotus-designed, Mercury
Marine hand-assembled engine story for the engine's cutting edge
technology. (GM demonstrated to the world how durable the new
engine was by running one on the proving ground track for 24 hours
averaging over 175 mph! )
Coupled with an incredibly smooth-shifting ZF 6-speed manual the
car was a phenom in its day. Equipped with unique wheels, trim and
wider rear stance, it initially looks like a normal 'Vette, but
Bowtie anoraks recognize what it is immediately.ZR-1s were built
with all the Corvette options included, with very few extras
available, the most notable was an extra smoked-glass top to use in
addition to the body color one...which this car has ($915
upcharge). Driver-adjustable suspension technology was another
unique aspect of the car. At the time, the ZR-1 package cost almost
exactly the same as the base car! Leather seats with full power,
lumbar control, digital dash and all the toys of the day were
identified by a cockpit full of switches. Most red ZR-1s had
matching red interiors, but this particular car was one of fewer
than 100 fitted with Saddle Tan leather, making a nice
contrast.
The car came to us from the long-time collection of the second
owner and is even still on its original Goodyear Gatorbacks-since
it only has 13,390 miles!!Clean CarFax, original window sticker,
owner's books & keys, this ZR-1 is a rare find. It has just
received the recommended intake manifold coolant o-ring service and
new battery. The paint & interior are as-new and looking at the
car, there's no doubt about its mileage. Come see for yourself!
