Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is very happy to be able
to offer this highly customized, all steel bodied 1927 Essex Street
Rod. While not very often seen in the hot rod world, the Essex was
actually produced by the Essex Motor Company between 1918 and 1922,
and then by Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan between
1922 and 1933. Obviously, this Essex is a little different than
what originally rolled off the Detroit assembly line back in 1927!
Powered by an early 70's Chevy 350 CID (casting # 3970014) and
topped with a super cool Demon "3 Deuces" carb set up under a
custom painted air cleaner, a Vintage Air set up and a "BCool"
oversized aluminum radiator to keep it all cool, this Essex is
ready to be driven as well as to be shown off. Backed up by a 700R4
automatic transmission and a Jaguar rear end, the power is laid
down smoothly & effortlessly into a set of staggered 18"/20" Coys
chromed 5-star wheels wrapped with some aggressive B.F. Goodrich "G
Force T/A" rubber and stopped with a 4-wheel disc braking system.
Little expense was spared on the original build of this Essex,
including the custom chassis & chromed front suspension pieces all
the way to the polished rear coil-overs & chromed center-mounted
exhaust tips sticking out the back. This thing will get some
attention for sure! The interior was completely redone in a wild
looking 3-color scheme, including a faux-ostrich material, overhead
console housing the blue tooth audio system & an old school clock,
power windows, AutoMeter white-face gauges, floor mounted shifter,
tilt steering column, a back-up camera & even cup holders! If you
are looking for a unique ride that will stand out in a crowd, this
1927 Essex might be the one for you.
