When Ford debuted the Mustang on April 14th of 1964, it was an
instant hit with the public. Between the 1967 and 1968 model years,
Ford noticed that California was selling more Mustangs than any
other state in the United States. To reward their California
customers for all of the great sales, Ford wanted to give them
their very own special edition Mustang which became the GT/CS
California Special and was based on the 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang
prototype. Ford only produced 4,118 examples of the 1968 Mustang
GT/CS. This 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS is a nice, driver-quality
example of these hard-to-find classics. The correct, Lime Gold
(Green) exterior shines very well, but does present with a few
defects in the paint. The GT/CS received a number of cosmetic
touches taken from the 1967 GT500 Prototype car including:
Shelby-style front fog lamps, Shelby side air scoops, Shelby GT500
taillamps, Shelby Hood pins, Shelby quarter extensions and
fiberglass trunklid. The Lime Gold exterior is complimented nicely
by the period-correct, Ford GT wheels wrapped in raised
white-letter, Road Hugger Radial GT tires. The Black and Ivory Gold
interior is in good condition with the carpet and painted surfaces
showing some age. The Black bucket seats are in excellent condition
and free of any defects. Powering this Mustang GT/CS is its
numbers-matching, 302 cubic inch V8 backed by its C4, 3-speed,
Automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform
just as they should. The 302 V8 benefits from a mild cam,
Offenhauser intake manifold, Mallory distributor, Holley 4-barrel
carburetor, and long tube headers. This Mustang GT/CS delivers a
fantastic, loping exhaust note that is sure to put a smile on your
face as well as the people watching you drive by. This 1968 Mustang
is nicely equipped with options such as: power steering, variable
speed wipers, AM/FM stereo, and hood-integrated marker lights. If
