For Sale: 1989 Pontiac Firebird in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

This is one of those cars that get legendary status in the right circles. The 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 was lighter than the Trans Ams and GTAs of the day, and this one was also optioned with the top motor. So when you get a favorable power/weight ratio and the WS6 performance suspension, it is one of those awesome finds for those in-the-know. And this example has everything you want from a fresh black finish to the iconic T-tops.

This one looks pretty sleek in the pictures, right? That's because there was a high-quality respray that happened only about two months ago! So the black has a piano-like luster across the sharply pointed style. It all looks quite good because this has been treated with the correct respect a Formula 350 deserves and it has only averaged about 3k miles annually. The Formula cars were lighter than others at the high-performance end of the Firebird family, and this was even reflected in the svelter lines than the attractive but imposing GTA. But like any good Pontiac, it still knows how to look sporty. We love the offset power dome hood and the wraparound rear spoiler. And the factory alloys were recently redone, so they look bright and clean, right down to the center caps that announce the WS6 suspension.

The interior continues the well-respected and well-preserved presentation. You have clean door panels, a smooth dash, and high-back bucket seats that still know how to hug your body. It's a detailed style, right down to the dash map pocket and working dome light. This car is loaded with the best features like cruise control, an armrest center console, a tilt steering column, power steering, sporty round gauges, tinted windows, and an upgraded AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth. And this has the right features for a car you want to cruise. The velour upholstery makes it nice to take the T-tops out on sunny days even when you're wearing shorts. And the air conditioning has a new compressor so that it makes sure the breezes flow through are even cooler.

What makes this car a proper collectible is what's under the hood. The VIN tells us this was correctly optioned with the Corvette-derived L98 5.7-liter fuel-injected V8. This has a known history and proper stock style that makes it hard to believe this is anything but the original powerhouse. GM's 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission was a good pairing because its stout nature can handle the power and torque produced by the range-topping engine. It fires up with the kind of gusto that reaffirms its well-respected feeling. And it's a terrific driver because the WS6 sports suspension is supplemented by investments in new shocks, new tires, and a new four-wheel power disc brake system.

The sale comes complete with the factory buildsheet, owner's manual, and maintenance records. This Formula 350 is the choice of Pontiac performance fans, and it's presented with the sleekness, comfort, features, and power that show you why it's such a driver's classic. Call today!!!
