Vehicle Description
If you're a fan of style, speed and swagger, you simply can't go
wrong with Pontiac's storied GTO. The GOAT practically defined the
golden age of Detroit, and by the time its first production run was
over, it had become the best-selling muscle car of all time. Not
surprisingly, demand for these cornerstone classics continues to be
strong. In the past year, we've shipped five awesome GTOs to five
very satisfied owners across the globe! Fully documented and
rotisserie restored, this authentic GTO backs 400 cubic inches of
legendary Pontiac power with an incredible story of ownership and
exclusivity. And if you're looking for a cool collectible that
combines classic muscle car feel with timeless Motor City style,
it's your chance to grab a tiger by the tail!
"WE'RE ALL STORIES, IN THE END" - STEVEN MOFFAT
Sometimes things don't always go as planned. Sometimes life just
has a different plan. This super cool 1969 GTO was to be the pride
and joy of its first owner. Custom-ordered with Red vinyl, a Black
top and vivid Matador Red paint, the car arrived at The Edwards
Motor Company in Canton, Ohio to much fanfare and joy. There was
only one problem: the car's purchaser was NOT a part of that
fanfare and joy. It seemed, for seemingly no reason at all, someone
at GM's Fisher Body unit had altered his creation to be Pontiac
code 67 Burgundy instead of the code 52 Red he'd lusted after. Per
Pontiac Historic Services, when a factory change order is initiated
on official Build Sheets, as was the case with our buyer's GTO,
it's usually initiated on the car's Dealer Invoice as well. The
invoice always reflects how the dealer receives the car from
Pontiac, then the dealer generates a Window Sticker based on that
invoice. No so here. This is the first known case of a Pontiac
being altered at the factory without an update to dealer paperwork.
Not surprisingly, the prospective owner initially refused to take
delivery of the car but, after a lot of convincing - and the dealer
discounting his GTO to cost, he drove it home. That said, the car's
decidedly conservative pigment never really sat well with its new
owner and, roughly two years later, he sold it to a good friend.
The second owner instantly fell in love with his new muscle car and
set about daily driving it for the next six years. In 1977, with
roughly 39K miles on its odometer, the GTO was parked in dry
storage to await a full restoration. Twenty-six years later, the
one-of-a-kind Pontiac was uncovered and subjected to a 10-year
rotisserie restoration. And today, the car rolls as one of the best
opportunities in the collector car market: a fully documented,
numbers-matching classic that backs innate exclusivity with a
really cool story!
Solid, largely-original muscle cars are increasingly tough to come
by. Even more so if they're desirable classics that feature full
documentation, a full ownership history and a one-of-a-kind story.
