Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud it represent this radical
1964 Ford Falcon "Gasser" style Drag Racer! The 1964 Ford Falcon
two- and four-door sedans continued to represent Ford utility in
true form, displaying squared-off rooflines and little
ornamentation. The Falcon returned for 1964 with a mature and
contemporary redesign, and Ford added a Sprint Package, which gave
the Falcon the Fairlane's 260 V8, a stiffer suspension, and a
louder exhaust. The Falcon kept its 109.5-inch wheelbase but
marginally grew in length, width and weight, with chiseled features
and a slanted grille. All told, there were 17 Falcon models, five
engines, and four transmissions - something for just about every
consumer. The term "gasser" is a riff on the NHRA's historical "gas"
classes. Long before bracket racing, and before Stock
Eliminator/Super Stock index racing, the gas classes were where
competitors with gasoline-powered street machines raced. Rules
generally required these cars to be street-style cars
(self-starting, run on regular petrol, stock dimensions and frame)
with parity being achieved through pounds-per-cubic-inch. It was
simple with few rules, making gasser classes very popular with
rank-and-file racers. This particular 1964 Ford Falcon is finished
is powered b a 351ci Winsor V8 with a 408ci Stroker Kit with a long
list of performance and safety upgrades for the power. Backing the
motor is a mildly built C4 3-Speed Automatic Transmission. If
you're in the market for a classic styled Gasser, this 1964 Ford
Falcon with no expense spared would be a top contender!
