Vehicle Description
This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 tribute has some great
custom elements to celebrate the best of the Pontiac line. And of
course, having a Ram Air 400ci V8 and upgrades like four-wheel disc
brakes is the best way to honor GM's performance division.
This was the debut year for the Formula 400, and Pontiac really
created something special. The dual-scoop Ram Air hood complimented
the color-matched Endura front end to put one of the era's most
aggressive faces forward. The VIN tells us this was born a Trans
Am, which is always desirable. Plus, it pays tribute to that
lineage with Polar White and blue stripes. And the wheels look like
Pontiac's classic Rally II design, but they are really modern
17-inch alloys. Details like the three-piece rear spoiler and
bright dual exhaust tips continue the sporty style, and there's an
overall appeal here of a clean and straight example of the first
year of the Firebird's 2nd gen.
Black interiors always look good on speedy machines, especially
with a restoration investment in areas like the carpeting, door
panels, and upholstery. There are also the right comfort features
like an AM/FM stereo with USB and Bluetooth, power windows, and
provisions for air conditioning (it's running modern R134a but it
will need servicing to blow cold again.) And it's set up to be a
solid driver with low-back front bucket seats, a center console
in-between, a classic Pontiac steering wheel with power steering,
and upgraded gauges with tach.
The engine bay has a terrific stock style where you'll watch people
at the car show point out the air intake that helps feed the big
400 cubic-inch V8 the fresh air from the hood scoops. And while the
block has the classic/stock Pontiac turquoise, take a closer look.
This one is enhanced with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an
Edelbrock intake, and long tube headers feeding the H-pipe dual
exhaust. It's a powerful total package, and that's why you have
stout components like a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission
and a 12-bolt rear end. Plus, there are upgraded four-wheel power
disc brake, sway bars front & rear, and grippy sport tires afforded
by the wheel upgrade.
This is distinct and powerful fun wrapped in a bold body. So if you
want to celebrate the best of Pontiac, call today!
