Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1950 Ford
Custom Deluxe. The first "Custom" rolled off the Ford assembly line
in 1949 as a top trim level model. By 1950 the car was referred to
as the Custom Deluxe. With the war over, consumers had money to
spend and were looking for new and updated cars. A new era had
begun with Ford grabbing it by the horns, manufacturing a smaller,
stylish model that was more functional than its predecessor.
Between 1949-1951 Ford produced over one million Custom two-doors.
This 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe is painted in a classic maroon with a
tan cloth custom interior. The car has been lowered four inches
with modifications including a nosed hood, trunk decked, door
handles shaved, cruiser skirts installed, blue dot taillights and
Oldsmobile hubcaps. The gauges and radio are original. Under the
hood is a 274ci ford flathead V-8 with modifications as listed:
bored .125 over, 4- inch Stroke Scat crank, Ross pistons, Schnieder
cam shaft, adjustable lifters, ported/ polished intake and exhaust
ports, Reds headers, Offy cylinder head and intake manifold, two
Holley 94 carburetors, Mallory dual point distributor and coil and
a Hellings and Stelling air cleaner. A pair of Smitty mufflers have
been installed for that amazing 50's rumble.
