Gateway Classic Cars Milwaukee is excited to present this 1966 Ford
Thunderbird convertible. The first Thunderbird came off the
assembly line in 1955. For the first time Ford was marketing a true
luxury sportscar. Many body styles have been produced over the
years including a two-seat convertible, four- seat hardtop/
convertible versions, five seat convertible /hardtop version and a
six-passenger hardtop. With the introduction of the rear seat in
1958 Ford was able to expand the market of the Thunderbird as a
personal sporty luxury car with high end features and over the top
performance. The introduction of an all-power hydraulic convertible
top beginning on the 1964 T-Bird was a marvel of the time. This
fourth-generation 1966 Ford Thunderbird is painted in Cranberry red
metallic with a black vinyl convertible top. Dual sport mirrors and
factory wheel covers add to the overall good looks. The interior is
upholstered in red vinyl. Bucket seats, center console and a full
gauge dash scream luxury with a sporty flare. Under the hood is a
390 cubic inch V-8 attached to a three-speed automatic
transmission. Updates include a Holley Sniper fuel injection
system, solid state distributer, electronic ignition, replaced
intake manifold, replaced torque convertor, replaced engine/
transmission gaskets replaced fuel tank, replaced radiator, brake
lines, hoses, installed 100-amp alternator and much more. The
convertible mechanisms have also been gone through for proper
operation. Added features include tilt-away steering wheel. AM
radio, power steering and power brakes.
