"At its launch at the Geneva Auto Salon in March 1961, the E-Type
not only stole the show but every headline. Enzo Ferrari described
the Jaguar as the most beautiful car in the world, and many regard
the original Coupe and Roadster models as perfect from every
angle."-Autocar.co.uk
This 1968 E-Type OTS roadster is one of the limited production
Series 1.5 models produced. The Series 1.5 XKE's featured exposed
headlights that were shared with the Series II cars but retained
the desirable Series I features such as the small front grille
opening, twin signals mounted above the front bumper as well as
rear taillights mounted above the split rear bumper. The blend of
the two Series thus produced the Series 1.5.
This 1968 Jaguar XKE underwent a full concours nut and bolt
restoration which was completed in 2019. Currently showing just 200
miles since restoration this E-Type presents as well as it did in
2019 when it was awarded "Best in Class" at the Endicott Concours
D' Elegance.
Beneath the bonnet you will find the numbers matching 4.2-liter
twin-cam engine with dual Stromberg carburetors mated to the
correct 4-speed manual transmission. With a pull of the choke and
turn of the key this XKE comes to life.
The black paint on this Jaguar has great depth and shine with a
mirror like finish. The black leather interior is void of any wear
at all and presents as brand new. With the reflection of the highly
polished chrome in the mirror like black finish you will not find a
more visually pleasing combination. Add the black tautly fitting
Stayfast top and you have a combination that really is "the most
beautiful car in the world."
The overall workmanship on this E-Type is of the highest quality
with no exceptions. Drive or show, this roadster will not
disappoint.
