Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is very happy to be able to offer
this gorgeous 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT. This 1997 Cobra is
sporting the ultra-peppy, high-revving 4.6L 281 CID V/8. For 1997,
Ford kept the new aluminum 4.6 liter, DOHC, "modular" unit that was
smoother and had slightly better fuel economy than the older 5.0L
unit from prior to 1996. The GT got a SOHC version of the new 4.6L
V/8, while the Cobra got a new DOHC setup. The Cobra's block was an
aluminum, cross-bolted block & the heads had split ports with huge
valves and also includes a built-in oil cooler. The DOHC V/8 meant
4 valves per cylinder for better aspiration and is equipped with an
aftermarket Aeromotive fuel rail set up and a larger JLT
Performance MAF & throttle body, so this engine is most definitely
speed ready! Paired up to a 5-speed manual transmission, the
excitement of driving this classic Mustang Cobra really comes to
life. This light gray Cobra is a rear-seat delete vehicle and also
is equipped with a super snug fitting set of high-back bucket seats
that offer more than enough support under spirited driving
conditions. The exterior appearance is classic Cobra, with a slick
looking set of SVE 5-spoke wheels, a newer set of Cooper Zeon
RS3-G1 rubber, slotted & cross drilled rotors and the beautiful
engine note coming through the Magnaflow exhaust system and out of
the aggressive looking side mount exhaust tips. This is the one we
used to dream about back in the younger years! Showing only 104,230
Carfax verified miles, this tastefully upgraded Cobra SVT is
waiting to be enjoyed!
