Gateway classic cars of Nashville is proud to digitally present to
you this 1959 Mercury Monterey. This 2 door Monterey looks sharp in
the red and white paint with white vinyl interior. Sometimes it is
fun to look at the forward thinking of cars from this era and I
think that some of the ideas should be incorporated in today's
cars. Example, the A pillar curves to the front of the car allowing
you to sit and then swing your legs into the car. I am guessing
this was so a lady wearing a dress could more gracefully enter the
car. The windshield wraps around and provides better vision and the
rear window also wraps around, placing the C pillar about a foot
more forward than you would expect giving this car killer body
lines. Of course, this car comes with the fins you would expect
from a car of this era as the country was obsessed with space
travel at that time. Under the hood is a 312 cubic inch Y block
that still provides plenty of power to move this 18-foot-long
beauty. With a wheelbase of 126 inches this car floats down the
road like you are on a cloud. The 3-speed automatic transmission
handles the shifting leaving your right arm free and the bench seat
gives ample room for your special someone to snuggle close. I am
sure you will find good use for that right arm. Options for this
1959 Mercury Monterey include: AM radio, Seatbelts, Power Brakes
and enough room in the back seat to rent it out to a small family,
ok, very small. can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD
